The Art de Cure gallery reception, “Starry Night,” at Clinical Prosthetics + Orthotics in Albany, NY on Dec. 2 was a great success benefiting the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA) for research for CMT, the most commonly inherited peripheral neuropathy.
Art de Cure Gallery is a not-for-profit collaboration between art and medicine, showcasing Art in the Community to benefit a cure.
The Reception and silent auction of original artwork by regional artists featured complimentary wine, food and live music, provided by guitarist Mary Grace Barada.
Friends and family members donated hand made jewelry, quilts, painted glass ware, and knitted baby clothes for the silent auction. From her studio in Upstate New York, Fiber Artist & Art de Cure curator, Susan Rivers, contributed hand made silk scarves, which quickly sold out.
The Monks of New Skete donated autographed books and DVD’s, and Susan Salzberg contributed note cards hand made with her beautiful photographs.
Other donated items included gift certificates for a massage at a local Healing Arts Center, a motor coach tour, and restaurant gift certificates.

“The innovative concept behind the Art de Cure concept is to partner art with medicine while supporting a cause. A further advantage is that it brings art to a cross section of the community. Patients, staff and everyone who comes to the office has an opportunity to enjoy the art work”, stated Dr. Jay Watsky.
The Charcot-Marie-Tooth Associations’ Board of Directors Chairman, Herb Beron, presented the “Rebecca Sand Volunteer of the Year Award” to Melinda Lang, Rph founder of Upstate NY CMT for her dedication, commitment, extraordinary service and outstanding accomplishments for the CMTA.
